Activities

The Ius Commune organizes its performance from four axes: studiesresearcheventsacademic exchange.

Study Group:

The Study Group operates through the dynamics of weekly meetings, organized around a common theme – the module of the semester – and the corresponding reading schedule. Under the supervision of the monitor and through a system of reports, we seek, from a historical perspective, to understand and discuss the selected texts, highlighting the continuities and emergent ruptures. Participation in the study group is open to the entire academic community, yielding certificate of participation and reporting to those who meet the requirements of presence (75%) activity, respectively. To register, just attend the first meeting of each module.

Research:

The Research conducted at Ius Commune involves students from the stage of scientific initiation (graduation) to the post-graduation (master’s, doctorate and post-doctorate), in addition to professors and researchers of consolidated trajectory. The results of the works developed are published in books and periodicals of national and international scope, besides being socialized in various academic events – some even regularly promoted by Ius Commune.

Events:

The Events organized are primarily the presence of speakers from UFSC and other institutions, national and foreign, seeking to stimulate the exchange of knowledge and experiences among researchers.

Exchange:

The Academic Exchange is the result of Ius Commune agreements with important research centres abroad, particularly with the universities of Rome (La Sapienza), Milan, Florence, Macerata, Gent and Helsinki, as well as with the MPIeR (Max Planck Institute for the History of European Law) in Frankfurt. The process, aimed at students and teachers, involves from the experience of entire academic semesters in foreign universities to monthly trips for field research.
